It was a day to remember for the foreign students who are pursuing their education in various colleges in Mysore.

There are around 220 students from more than 50 countries who have been studying in University of Mysore.

The Federation of International Students Association (FISA), Mysore, has been organising Graduation Day from the past 7 years in Mysore. Though the convocation is scheduled to be held much later, the international students hold their graduation day as they would be leaving to their native countries soon after the examination.

The Graduation Day was organised for final year students of Post Graduation, Under Graduation and those pursuing their Ph.D in various subjects. Students had also invited Fathima Thumbe, Ministerial Counsel, High Commission of Mozambique, David, Ist Secretary, High Commission of Kenya, Prof. R. Indira, Director, International Centre, University of Mysore, Prof. Suresh, Dean, Faculty of Management and Commerce, University of Mysore and Ravishankar, Advisor, International Students Hospitality Organisation (ISHO).

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Associaton President Dennis, who is pursuing his Masters in Law, University of Mysore, said that the Association had been organising graduation day for the final year students to carry good memories back to their countries.

This apart, the Association has also been organising various other programmes for the students to make their stay memorable. Dennis expressed his gratitude to Mysore, saying that the city had been a good host for international students.

“We are proud to be studying in Mysore which is currently the 2nd best favourable destination for the international students in the country after Pune. People in Mysore have received and treated us in a good manner which I would remember for a long time. This apart, I will always keep in touch with my friends in Mysore and make sure to visit the city whenever I get an opportunity” said Dennis.

Foreign students who assembled at the Crawford Hall took pictures along with friends donning their graduation day gown. They also greeted each other for successfully completing their studies at the University.
