“The IT-BT industries are like the British East India Company. They use our land, water, roads and other amenities and earn wealth in dollars. They live in ivory towers. What have they done for the poor?” asked District In-Charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad today.

He was speaking after launching the Anna Bhagya scheme in city this morning.

Making a scathing attack on former Infosys Chief Financial Officer T.V. Mohandas Pai who had yesterday asked Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to call off the Anna Bhagya scheme as it would impose a heavy burden on the State exchequer, the Minister said the government was not squandering money but was helping the poor.

“What have you (IT companies) done for the poor? Who are you to question the government’s pro-poor scheme?” asked Sreenivasa Prasad.
