Mysore, Apr. 10 (KCU)- South Zone IGP Jeevan Kumar V. Gaonkar has given a call to the Police personnel to make best use of the Police Public School which has been opened with an intention to provide quality education to students.

He was speaking after participating in a programme organised by Karnataka State Police Welfare and Education Trust to release the school's annual magazine Sujnana at the school premises on Mahadevapura Road in Jalapuri here yesterday.

Referring to the school, Gaonkar pointed out that the institution intended to groom the students to develop good personality and thus evolve them as valuable citizens to society.

"The school would provide the best education quite uncommon in other institutions. Police Officers are usually subject to transfers. However, they should all strive to nurture and develop the school. The person behind the opening of the school, Senior IPS Officer Kempaiah has been requested to function as Chief Patron of the school and he has agreed too," said Gaonkar, the Hon. President of the Trust.

Speaking as the chief guest, Assistant Commissioner D. Bha-rati suggested the parents to spend quality time with their children and provide good atmosphere for them to learn. "Scoring 99 % should not be the sole aim. Even people with 40 % marks have been very successful in life, she added.

Police Superintendent and Trust Secretary Rama Subba ex-pressed confidence in the approach of the Police Officers to come out with a best institution.

H.T. Sambhrama and Surabhi, students of 6th std. presented a spectacular Bharathanatyam on plates. Other students presented folk and group dances.

Additional SP Venkataswamy, DCP Rajendraprasad, Trust members Retd. SP G. Basavaraj, Retd. Dy.SP Nanjundegowda, School Principal Usha Rao and others were present.

Police Public School Principal Usha Rao announced that the school admits children of general public too to an extent of 40 per cent of available seats from LKG to 8th standard.

"It is proposed to commence CBSE syllabus for 1st and 2nd standard. More information can be had on Ph: 2459900 or 9845742008," she explained.
