A detailed discussion about the repair of Hunsur-Thithimathi-Gonikoppa road was held in Bangalore last evening during which the PWD Chief Engineer (South Circle) said that the PWD Minister had released a sum of Rs. 36 crore for the work which will be started soon, as monsoons will be over shortly.
Dynamic IAS officer P. Manivannan, who recently assumed charge as the Director of Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (KSHIP), told Star of Mysore this morning that the Hunsur-Gonikoppa road comes under two agencies — one is the regular PWD (south circle) and another under the State Highway Development Project (SHDP).
“Indeed, the PWD side claimed that they had started work when the PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa summoned him and asked for details,” said Manivannan and hoped that the road work will be motorable once again in three months’ time.
Manivannan said that since the road does not come under KSHIP, he could not directly involve in it, but assured of coordinating with the officials concerned.
Manivannan, who took over as the KSHIP Director on July 6, 2013 and created a Facebook page three days later, chanced upon the cry for repairing the Hunsur-Gonikoppa road through a post in Facebook and took personal interest in it.
