Mysore, July 12 (KCU&RK)- DGP (Home Guards and Civil Defence) and Director of Fire and Emergency Services Jija Madhavan Hari Singh visited K.R. Hospital today and spoke to the Home Guards who have recently taken over the security services of the hospital.
The Home Guards presented a Guard of Honour to the DGP at the premises of the hospital.
Addressing the Home Guards, Jija Singh pointed out that the hospital was frequented predominantly by the poor in pain who deserve to be respected with a humane touch.
"The initial approach of the Home Guards will do wonders in reducing the stress of the incoming patients. It is a pride for the department to provide security services in full magnitude to a government hospital. Other than general security, the parking facilities should also be monitored carefully," she advised.
The DGP instructed the District Commandant (Home Guards) Dr. S.G. Chandrakumar to deploy a minimum of 5 Women Home Guards to assist women patients coming to the hospital.
Later, Jija Singh held a meeting with the K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Geetha Avadhani. Mysore Medical College and Research Institute Dean and Director Dr. D. Venkatesh, Liaison Officer Dr. S.P. Yoganna and Regional Fire Officer Gurulingaiah participated in the meeting.
Speaking to the press persons, Jija Singh said, rural unemployed youth were being recruited as Home Guards and put on the job after a rigorous training.
"The Home Guards available on a 3-shift basis can be deployed for any emergency service be it law and order problem or natural calamities. Good Platoon Commandants were on the roll to supervise the operation. The remuneration to the guards too has been hiked to Rs. 150 a day to make the job more desirable", she pointed out.
