64 different animals perform
Mysore, Oct. 7 (BRS)- The Great Bombay Circus, aimed at providing entertainment to the citizens of Mysore and visitors during Dasara has begun in city. Three shows will be presented daily at 1 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Circus Convenor Premnath and Manager Dilip remarked that publicity for the circus has not been as wide this year as last year because of restrictions in displaying publicity material across the city by the City Corporation. Many people in the city are not aware that the circus has begun, they said.
There were 300 workers in the circus, consisting of 180 artistes and 64 different types of animals who perform various daring acts to entertain the patrons.
Roller act and Candle balance by Chinese artistes, Cube pyramid, Juggling, Palotna acrobatics by Russian artistes, Lambing Board by American artistes, Vertical swinging acrobatics, Russian devil clown act, Elephant Cricket, Acrobatics by parrots, High-wheel skipping act, Pocket bicycle and various physical exercises by African artistes are all part of the show of more than two hours.
Established in 1920, the circus has been witnessed by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, late President V.V. Giri, late Defence Minister V.K. Krishna Menon, late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.G. Ramchandran, erstwhile Nepal King Mahendra and other VVIPs, they said.
