“The Global Positioning System (GPS) installed by our company has helped in tracing a stolen sand lorry within eight minutes,” claimed Vishwanath, an official of Kallatra Technologies here yesterday.
Addressing a press conference at Patrakartara Bhavan in city, he said that the system helped in tracing a stolen sand lorry (KA 12 1684) belonging to one K.C. Shiva Kumar, a resident of Mysore within eight minutes of it being stolen on July 10 morning as the lorry was found abandoned just a kilometer away from Nanjangud Police Station.
Kodandaramu, President of Local Lorry Owners Association, speaking at the press meet said that there were 3,600 sand lorries in the district out of which 1,300 were being used for transporting sand and 1,044 of them had been fitted with GPS.
The control room provides information on the location, movement, places where the lorry had been parked and other details which would help in monitoring the activities of the drivers, Vishwanath said and added that the system would help in tracking the stolen lorries within 24 hours of the incident by calling helpline 99017-80000.
Office-bearers of the Asso-ciation Asgar Ahmed, Nagaraj and lorry owner Shiva Kumar were present at the press meet.
