Finally, the Department of Kannada and Culture has named the member of the Ranga Samaja, the governing body of Rangayana in Mysore. It is said that senior theatre artiste G.K. Govind Rao has been named as one of the seven members.

This time round priority has been given to districts which are of cultural relevance. The members of the Ranga Samaja were finalised in a meeting headed by Ranga Samaja President and Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree. It is believed that a copy of the order nominating all the seven members has been sent to Rangayana through fax.

Representations to districts such as Dharwad, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Kolar, Mangalore and Mysore has been given. The Samaja is expected to meet on Sept. 3 to discuss appointment of Director to Rangayanas in Mysore, Dharwad and Shimoga. It is said, Mysore based theatre person Janardhan (Janni) is almost certain to be appointed as Director of Rangayana in Mysore. Other Ranga Samaja members are: Govind Rao (B’lore), D.S. Chougle (Dharwad), Sujatha Jangamashetti (Gulbarga), K.Y. Narayana Swamy (Kolar), Shashidhar Bhat (Mangalore) and Mandya Ramesh (Mysore).
