The three-day GoBeyond-Leisure and Lifestyle expo-2013 organised jointly by Rotary Club of Mysore West and Mysore Travel Agents Association (MTAA) began at Maharaja’s College Grounds here this morning.
The expo, with 140 stalls, focuses on tourism and home appliances including vehicles.
The expo was inaugurated by Swami Muktidanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysore. Addressing the gathering, he acclaimed Mysore as a tourism and cultural hub. He lauded the organisers for launching such a beneficial expo to boost tourism and also improve lifestyle.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa lauded the services of Rotary West and hoped that many such clubs would evolve to render selfless service to the poor.
Club President Rtn. S.N. Parthanath announced that gifts were avoided for the dignitaries, the amount of which would be utilised to provide dialysis for 10 poor needy patients. He also handed over a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to the Swami to be sent to the Ramakrishna Ashram in Belur, West Bengal, towards the relief of Uttarakhand victims. The expo is open to the public from 10 am to 9 pm till Aug. 11.
