Close on the heels of city cops raiding Lakshmipuram Sports Club, city Police yesterday evening raided Kuvempunagar Sports Club and arrested 14 persons who were indulged in gambling besides seizing Rs. 24, 700 stake money.

It is reported that Kuvempunagar Police on receiving information that people were indulged in gambling in Kuvempunagar Sports Club on Adichunchanagiri road raided the club premises at about 7 pm yesterday.

K.R. Division ACP Prakash Gowda led the team of cops comprising Kuvempunagar Inspector Yeshwanth Kumar, Saraswathipuram Inspector Chandrashekar, Sub-Inspectors Javaranayak, Srinivas Gowda and staff in the nabbing and seizing operation.

Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case in this regard.

The arrested were later released on bail.

In yet another case, the Vijayanagar Police arrested 16 persons on charges of gambling and recovered Rs. 1 lakh stake money from them.

Acting on a tip off, the Police raided two rooms of a paying guest facility located on Mahalakshmi Bar road in Railway Layout, Vijayanagar and arrested 16 persons who were allegedly found indulged in gambling.

Apart from Rs. 1 lakh cash, they also seized 5 motorcycles belonging to them.

Vijayanagar Police have registered a case in this regard.
