The Karnataka Government has ordered a probe into the alleged irregularities at the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) during the tenure of former MCC Commissioner K.S. Raikar in the implementation of 22.75 per cent grant and other schemes, said Dalit and Backward Classes Co-ordination Committee Hon. President Harihara Anandaswamy here yesterday.
Addressing a press conference at Patrakarthara Bhavan, he alleged that Raikar during his regime had committed many irregularities and amassed wealth by misappropriating funds including 22.75% grant meant for development works of the people of SC/ST and Backward Classes.
Following protests, the Government had instructed Regional Commissioner M.V.Jayanthi to collect information on the irregularities committed by Raikar following which Jayanthi had collected relevant information from the then MCC Commissioner Dr. M.R.Ravi.
The report submitted by Dr. Ravi had exposed that Raikar had misappropriated Rs. 11 crore and the said report had been submitted to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah who has ordered a probe, Anandaswamy said and added that disciplinary action should be taken against the guilty.
He also alleged that benefits like providing sewing machines and solar lights to the beneficiaries had reached Corporators and further alleged that many officials had amassed crores of rupees by illegally continuing to work in many departments at the MCC.
