Demanding solutions to the problems faced by them, farmers of all the districts in Karnataka will stage a 48-hour protest at all district head quarters said State President of Karnataka Region Raitha Sangha Maruti Manpade here yesterday.

Addressing a press conference at Patrakarthara Bhavan in city, he said that lakh of farmers will take part in the protest to be staged at all the 23 District Head Quarters in the State and said that nearly 20 lakh applications on Bagar Hukum land in the State had been rejected.

Among their demands are: The immediate allotment of Bagar Hukum lands, permanent irrigation facilities, drinking water and implementation of Right to Employment and fixation of prices of agricultural produces as recommended by the Swaminathan Panel.

They also demanded the Government to give up plans to accommodate multinational companies by making suitable amendments in the law and also take steps to save farmers from being extorted by middlemen.
