Co-operation Minister H.S. Mahadev Prasad recently assured to expedite the process of giving interest-free loans to farmers, as had been announced by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.
The Mysore-Chamarajanagar District Co-operative Central (MCDCC) Bank President C. Basavegowda, who met the Minister at his Kuvempunagar residence recently, told SOM that he had urged the Minister to release funds for the loans and also for the waiver of Rs. 25,000 from the loans availed by farmers, affected by the previous BJP government.
“Following the announcement of loan waiver, farmers have not repaid the loans availed from co-operative institutions and the government is yet to make good the losses incurred by the co-operative institutions,” said Basavegowda, to which the Minister is said to have assured to get the funds released through the Finance Department.
Bank Vice-President Siddegowda, CEO L. Jairam, Directors Nagaraj, Ramakrishne Gowda, K. Umashankar, Cheluvegowda, K.P. Anil Kumar and others were present.
