In the wake of protests against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu continuing in Mysore and Mandya districts, the Mandya District Administration has extended the ban on the entry of tourists to KRS from yesterday.
Mandya Dy. Commissioner Krishnaiah has issued the ban order which will be in effect till 6 am on Feb. 16. Heavy Police security has been deployed at KRS.
Speaking to SOM, Sub-Inspector Mahesh of KRS Police Station said that 12 KSRP platoons comprising around 1000 Police personnel from Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu and Ramanagar have been deployed at KRS. Apart from this, 60 officers in the rank of Sub-Inspector and above have been camping at the dam site.
The special security arrangement is being monitored by Chamarajanagar SP P. Rajendra Prasad. However, the Police sources said that there was no information about any agitation by farmers or any organisations at KRS today.
