Drinking water problem figured prominently at the MCC Council meeting with all the members vociferously seeking exit of JUSCO for bad distribution of drinking water in city despite the summer being round the corner.

Initially, ruckus prevailed for a while when the meeting began with BJP Corporators M.V. Ramaprasad, Ninganna, Nandish Preetham and Shankar referring to the frequent squabbles between Mayor and MCC officials, which they said, was demeaning the local body.

Taking objection to that, the JD(S) and Congress Corporators asked their BJP counterparts to concentrate on the drinking water problem and not to create hype on trivial issues.

Taking the lead, Mayor Rajeshwari Puttaswamy pacified the members saying that minor differences could be patched up and it was not a burning issue. She asked the members to concentrate on relevant topics.

Coming to a consensus, all the Corporators opined that the problem of drinking water was aggravating day by day in city with the water level at KRS alarmingly low and distribution being totally improper.

They also accused JUSCO of remaining nonchalant. With the Corporators not getting any proper reply or assurance from the heads, they heeded to the suggestion mooted by H.N. Srikantaiah to go in a delegation to Bangalore and apprise the Chief Minister about the gravity of water problem in city.

The discussions and arguments were still on, remaining inconclusive and indecisive when we went to Press.
