Mysore, June 6 (RK&DM)- Mayor Sandesh Swamy said here that the waste and silt deposited in storm-water drainages across all 65 Wards in the city will be cleaned up in a month.
The Mayor made this announcement following large scale complaints from the public on clogged storm water drains during his visit to Udayagiri's Indira Colony for an inspection yesterday.
After hearing about the apathy shown by the drain cleaning-up contractor, he held discussions with Corporation Commissioner K.S. Raikar and came forward to take up cleaning operations from the Corporation itself.
But the contractor, upon coming to know of this, assured him that clogged storm water drains in all 65 wards of the Corporation will be cleaned up in a month for facilitating smooth flow of rain water, said Sandesh Swamy, speaking to Star of Mysore after the inspection.
The personnel who launched cleaning operation in Ward Nos. 8 and 51 on the occasion of 'World Environment Day' yesterday, will take up desilting work in storm water drains also.
