Senior KAS officer Dr. M.R. Ravi took charge as the Commissioner of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) this morning.

Dr. Ravi, who had a brief stint as MCC Commissioner from June 2012 to Feb. 2013, was transferred to Shimoga as Commissioner of Shimoga CMC, from where he was posted as Special DC of Belgaum district during last Assembly polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravi said that top priority will be given to maintaining hygiene, installing street-lights and other developmental programmes that need urgent attention.

With the Chief Minister announcing that Dasara will be celebrated in a grand manner this year, Dr. Ravi said that he will fast-track all on-going works related to Dasara preparations.

Pointing out that those executing sub-standard civil works were black-listed in the past, Dr. Ravi said there was no question of defending the guilty officer and added that those found involved in sub-standard works will be recommended for suspension.

When pointed out that during every Dasara, contractors complained that the bills were not paid, Dr. Ravi said that the matter will be discussed with the officials concerned and he will ensure that such instances will not recur this time.
