Dr. C. Basavaraj, Professor and Dean of Law Department, Mysore University, took charge on Monday as the Registrar of the University, according to an order passed by Higher Education Department (Universities) Principal Secretary C.R. Ravindra.

Registrar Prof. P.S. Naik has been transferred back to Gulbarga University where he was serving earlier.

Dr. Basavaraj has an experience of 18 years in the University Law Department and also in the administration as a member of Syndicate, Education Council, Dean and HoD of Law etc. He has also worked as a member of Academic Councils in many Universities, Finance Committees and in NAAC.

Dr. Basavaraj has presented papers in many seminars and guided 10 Ph.D students, apart from authoring more than 75 research papers and four books.

A Gold medallist from Mysore University, he has received the Best Citizen of India and other awards.

The new Registrar Dr. Basavaraj was recently greeted by Dr. Nanjaiah Honganur of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, Dr. P. Eshwar, Dr. Vasudevamurthy, former Senate Member Dr. Mullur Nanjundaswamy, Dalit Students Union former President D. Srinivasa Managalli, Paramesh, Puttananjaiah, L. Rajanna, Karunesha Kumar and Basavaraju.
