Bangalore, May 27 (KMC) - Urban Development Minister S. Suresh Kumar, who also is the In-Charge Minister for Mysore district, stated that he may have to seek financial assistance from philanthropists for the overall development of K.R. Hospital.
Speaking after holding a meeting pertaining to the development of K.R. Hospital at his residence here yesterday, Suresh Kumar said the project needed a lot of funds. "A proposal for Rs. 209 crore has been submitted to the government," said the Minister and added, "Since the State Government will not be able to provide such a large sum in one instalment, it is better to take up development works in phases."
Instead of depending on the government, Mysore's industrialists, businessmen and elite personalities will have to be approached for contributing their mite in developing the hospital," Suresh Kumar opined.
He also suggested that the old students of Mysore Medical College (MMC) who have come up in their lives and holding envious positions must also volunteer to salvage K.R. Hospital.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister's Financial Advisor Dr. K.V. Raju, MMC Director Dr. D. Venkatesh, K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Geetha K. Avadhani, Cheluvamba Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. B. Krishnamurthy and Liaison Officer Dr. Yoganna.
