The Mysore District Administration in association with the Election Commission and government departments held a rally in city yesterday to create awareness on importance of voting among the public. Tongawallahs, Police Band and various folk troupes added glitter to the rally.

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha flagged off the rally. Police Commissioner K.L. Sudheer, Police Observer Prathap Reddy, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Observer Leela Meenachi, MUDA Commissioner Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, SVEEP Co-Chairman Vasundharadevi, Nodal Officer A.R. Prakash and others participated in the rally accompanied by more than 25 Tongas, Mounted Police, sportspersons and skaters.

The rally, which commenced from Chamundi Vihar Stadium, passed through Sub Urban Bus Stand, Irwin Road, Ayurveda College Circle and culminated at CADA office premises.

In another programme organised by Mysore Taluk SVEEP Committee, around 2000 students from SJCE and teaching staff took oath to participate in the voting process. In yet another rally organised by the Department of Public Instruction, teachers and government officials took out a march from the Deputy Commissioner’s office to the Zilla Panchayat premises.

The District Administration, which displays an illuminated "Welcome" message atop Chamundi Hill during Dasara, has decided to display an illuminated message: "Vote without fail on May 5" to create awareness on voting.
