Reasons for transfer

Bangalore, May 22 (KMS& DM)- DC Manivannan, who had been the target of ire of certain political leaders, has at last been transferred.

District in-charge Minister Suresh Kumar had complained to the Chief Minister on large scale corruption in the execution of developmental works in the district, besides awarding contracts to outsiders, according to top sources.

The Minister, in his complaint had alleged corruption in the execution of projects and the DC's arrogance in questioning his decisions, it is learnt.

Apart from allegations of corruption against Manivannan, Suresh Kumar was upset over Manivannan's handling of controversy between MRC and JWGC and also Uppara hostel row.

Suresh Kumar had held a meeting with the administrators and officials of MRC and JWGC as part of finding an amicable solution to the controversy. Soon after Suresh Kumar had left city, Manivannan all of a sudden, instructed the AC to issue notices to MRC and JWGC.

Suresh Kumar, upon coming to know of the notices sent, intervened to see that the notice was not sent. The Minister was also upset at the way Manivannan handled the Uppara row.

As the Uppara community protest turned violent recently, Suresh Kumar himself intervened and held talks with Uppara Community leaders and brought the situation under control.

Citing all these facts, District Minister Suresh Kumar had appealed to the CM to appoint another capable officer as Mysore DC, it is learnt.
