With all vantage points lit with colourful lights, roads asphalted and given a new look, temples cleaned and painted, district officials and civic employees busy giving final touches, Mysore, the city of Palaces, is all set to host the 403rd nine-day Dasara festivities for the year 2013.

The festivities will be inaugurated tomorrow morning between 10.44 am and 11.07 am in the auspicious Vrischika Lagna at the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill by Jnanpith awardee and noted litterateur Dr. Chandrashekar Kambar.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, District In-Charge and Revenue Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, Public Works Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Muzrai Minister Prakash Hukkeri will be present.

Chamundeshwari Constituency MLA G.T. Devegowda will preside.

At 12.30 pm: Information Minister Santosh S. Lad will inaugurate Film Festival at Kalamandira.

At 12.45 pm: Youth Services, Sports and Fisheries Minister K. Abhaychandra Jain will inaugurate Joy Ride at Mandakalli Airport.

At 2 pm: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will inaugurate Food Mela at Scouts and Guides Grounds near DC’s office.

At 3 pm: Tourism and Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande will launch Dasara Information Centre and Tonga Savari at the Palace premises.

At 3.30 pm: Housing Minister Dr. M.H. Ambarish will inaugurate Wrestling competition at D. Devaraj Urs Multi-Purpose Stadium at Dasara Exhibition premises.

At 4 pm: Horticulture and Agriculture Marketing Minister Dr. Shyamanur Shivashankarappa will inaugurate Flower Show at Curzon Park.

At 4.15 pm: Tourism and Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande will inaugurate Dasara Exhibition at exhibition grounds.

At 4.30 pm: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate Dasara Sports at Chamundi Vihar Stadium.

At 6 pm: Veteran stage artiste Nadoja Dr. Enagi Balappa will inaugurate Dasara cultural programmes and State Sangeetha Vidwan award presentation ceremony at the Palace premises.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will be the chief guest. Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council D.H. Shankara Murthy, Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimappa, District Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, Kannada and Culture Minister Umashri and Public Works Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will be present.

Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar will preside.

At Palace tomorrow

Mysore, Oct. 4 - A puja will be peformed to the Golden Throne which was assembled on Sept. 29 at the Kannadi Thoti at the Amba Vilas Palace tomorrow.

Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar will be given traditional oil bath in Kanya lagna between 6.12 am and 6.28 am after which the lion will be fixed to the throne completing the formality of assembling the Throne.

Between 7.30 am and 8.40 am, Wadiyar will perform puja to the throne in Tula lagna at Chamundi Thoti after reaching there in a private savari.

Kankana Dharana: Between 8.46 am and 9.09 am, Wadiyar will be tied Kanakana in Tula lagna after a prayer at the Palace.

Wadiyar will ascend the throne after performing puja in Dhanur lagna between 11.15 am and 11.40 am. Between 12.50 pm and 1.25 pm, the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be shifted from Chamundi Thoti to Kannadi Thoti
