“Raitha Dasara, one of the prominent components of Dasara festival will be extended to Chamarajangar district also,” announced Distinct In-charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad.
He was addressing a press meet after holding a meeting at DC’s Office here yesterday attended by Senior Officers and Office-bearers of Dasara Sub-committees.
Elaborating further, Prasad said “Farmers and rural folk in Chamarajanagar district can participate in the Raitha Dasara so also in Srirangapatna. Copious rains throughout the State has paved way for a grand Dasara this time. The government has released Rs. 10 crore for Dasara and another Rs. 5 crore for developing roads.”
Continuing, Prasad said that garlands and bouquets for dignitaries would be replaced by a simple rose and there would be no flex boards of politicians. He further said that all cultural programmes would be carefully selected by a committee. He added that no politics would be allowed to creep into the execution of any job and assured that local talents would get due encouragement in all cultural programmes.
Ahara Mela: Prasad announced that Dasara Ahara Mela would be held at the spacious Scouts and Guides grounds to cater to the bigger crowd.
The Minister said that the three wings of defence — Army, Navy and Airforce — would be requested to depute their contingents for the Jumboo Savari and torch light parade. He assured that the popular air show would be revived this time.
Prasad said that arrangements have been made to have all the stalls ready before opening of Dasara exhibition. He added that e-seva would be facilitated for online booking of puja rituals at Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill. He further assured to have discussion with airline operators to fly chartered flights during Dasara to city from Bangalore.
