Dasara exhibition is one place where the Government Departments get an opportunity to create awareness among the public on the various programmes of the State Government through their respective departments. Be it Health and Family, Women and Child Welfare, Social Welfare, Tourism and others, every department gets to have their own stalls at the Dasara Exhibition.
With a large space allotted to each department, they leave no stone unturned to attract visitors to their fold to promote their respective programmes. The stalls are built attractively to create a sense of eagerness among the visitors.
One such stall which has been attracting visitors in large numbers is the stall erected by the State Tourism Department. The stall is built artistically and has information on some of the major tourist attractions in the State.
Visitors at this stall get to see paintings of Malnad region, Ground-loom carpets of Navalgund, Ilkal sarees, Mysore Silk products, Channapatna toys, Mysore Inlay and Wood works. The Department of Tourism has also displayed various artefacts signifying the rich heritage of various places in State. The most unique model at the entrance of the stall is a replica of a Karnataka’s tableau that featured in this year’s Republic Day Parade at New Delhi. This apart there is also audio-video presentation at the stall which tells about tourists locations in the State such as Badami, Aihole, Bidar, Chitradurga, Hampi and other locations.
Visitors to the stall are also given handouts on various tourist destinations and attractive packages.
The stall has been attracting a good number of visitors every day. They are seen enquiring the stall keepers about the various tourist destinations in Karnataka.
