The Police are all set to launch 'Dasara Beat' in city for prevention of crimes even as the count-down for Mysore Dasara has begun.

This assurance was given by the Police at an interaction meet held with the new beat system members of Saraswathipuram, Krishnaraja and Vidyaranyapuram divisions at Nada Brahma Sangeetha Sabha yesterday.

Most of the citizens, who took part in the meet, alleged that the Police apart from having failed to put an end to chain-snatching, are behaving in an irresponsible manner while accepting complaints in this regard and suggested that the Police be all the more alert as the countdown for Dasara festivities has begun.

DCP Basavaraj Malagatti, who addressed the meet, said the Police Department has taken several precautionary measures in the wake of the arrival of tourists from across the world for Dasara. Also, the Police will be more alert to prevent any mishap or untoward incidents, for which public co-operation is absolutely necessary, he said.

The citizens suggested that senior Police officials advise the Policemen to behave in a courteous and friendly manner with Dasara tourists. The Police should also pay more attention for providing facilities that included separate arrangements for senior citizens and women.

Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal, who also spoke on the occasion, said the Police Department was fully geared up for taking tourist-friendly measures for Dasara.

Krishnaraja ACP Vishnuvardhan, Corporators M.V. Ramprasad, Parthasarathy, leaders Yashaswini Somasekhar, Mike Chandru, Prabhamani and others took part in the meet.
