The ESI (Employees’ State Insurance) super-specialty hospital which is being constructed on KRS Road here will be open for service in the next six months.

The construction of the hospital’s first phase which was started around one-and-a-half years back is expected to be completed in the next six months.

The super-specialty hospital is being constructed in two phases. While, the first phase is on the verge of completion, the plan for the second phase is yet to be done.

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is spending approximately around Rs. 25 crore for the construction of the hospital in the first phase.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, ESI Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. M.R. Jagannath said that 85 per cent of the construction of hospital building was completed and the rest would be completed within six months.

The 100-bedded hospital is completely air-conditioned and has two operation theatres, one minor OT, Intensive Care Unit, Blood Bank, Lab and other facilities. The hospital will serve around 1.5 lakh beneficiaries in Mysore, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts.

Currently, ESI has five dispensaries in Mysore and 11 dispensaries combining all four districts. “Once the construction of the hospital building is completed, it will be able to provide service on par with any private hospital in Mysore,” he said.

ESI is collecting 4.75% earnings from employers while the employees pay 1.75 per cent of the salaries for the construction of the hospital. It has three floors including the ground floor and is expected to be one of the best ESI hospitals in the State.
