Mysore, Apr 21 (OSR)- The Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate P. Manivannan passed an order yesterday (Apr. 20, 2010) in a complaint filed before him by S. Arun Kumar, Advocate and Convenor, Jaagruthi, a city-based NGO, against the Managing Director of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC), Mysore.

In this conditional order for the removal of a public nuisance under Section 133, Cr.PC, the District Magistrate directed the Managing Director of CESC to publish details of the expected power outages for the benefit of the public. He has also ordered that the CESC Managing Director should ensure that there are no unplan-ned or unscheduled power cuts.

He has further asked the MD, CESC, to draw up a detailed plan which will tell consumers of electricity about the impending power cuts which should also mention about any sudden drop in the quantity of power that the CESC gets for distribution.

While passing this order the District Magistrate had asked the MD, CESC, to Show Cause why this order should not be made absolute.

The case has now been posted for tomorrow, Apr 22, 2010.

The DC passed this order based on the reports called for from the Commissioner of Police, Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat, Assistant Commissioners of Mysore and Hunsur, District health Officer of Mysore District, Project Director, District Urban Development Cell and the Managing Director of CESC.

It may be recalled here that all the seven officers above mentioned were asked by the District Magistrate to give a report within a specified time limit about the effects of unplanned power cuts. The order of the Disrict Magistrate was based on their reports.
