Though not Holi yesterday, Rangayana premises wore a festive look with true colours in the atmosphere with kids spraying coloured water on each other as the 25-day ‘Chinnara Mela’ drew to a close with celebration every where.
This year’s Chinnara Mela focussed on various festivals culminating in Holi. Coloured water was kept in plastic drums as the participating children filled the coloured water in bottles and splashed on each other not sparing the onlooking trainers and parents.
The colourful programme was launched by Kannada and Culture Principal Secretary Basavaraj and his wife who splashed coloured water on children.
Delivering the valedictory address Folklore Scholar Dr. H.S. Ramachandregowda observed that though a few festivals have apparently superstitious rituals they did contain some positive elements. He added that festivals revive dampened spirits in people to temporarily forget pains and worries.
Rangayana artistes, technicians and designers were felicitated on the occasion who contributed immensely for the success of Chinnara Mela.
Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapathi was present.
