Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, who launched the grand Jumboo Savari in front of the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the north gate of the Palace after offering puja to the Nandi Dhwaja at 1.15 pm yesterday, prayed for health, prosperity and peace to the people of the State. "The rain Gods have blessed the State, with dams across the State full to the brim. The good rains have resulted in better crop," Siddharamaiah said and expressed delight at the huge crowds thronging the city for the grand Jumboo Savari.
Continuing, the CM said he had prayed Goddess Chamundeshwari for good rains and crops next year too and also for peace and calm in the State.
Noting that every Dasara programme attracted good public response, the CM lauded the efforts of the District in-Charge Minister and officials for the successful conduct of Dasara.
Replying to a question on how he felt taking part in the Dasara as the CM, Siddharamaiah said he was extremely happy.
Earlier, the CM accompanied by several Cabinet Minister and officials arrived at the venue by a KSRTC Volvo bus, where he was crowned with a Mysore Peta by Sri Gowrishankar Nandi Dhwaja Sangha President L. Mahadevappa.
The CM removed his footwear before offering puja to Nandi Dhwaja. But the Ministers and officials accompanying him, did not follow his suit.
Meanwhile, some media persons complained to the CM that the District in-Charge Minister and officials had treated them with scant respect.
