Mysore, Mar. 29 (KVV&KK)- "Clean Train Station" is one of the initiatives taken by the Railways to make the stations more user-friendly. As part of this initiative, a cleanliness drive was inaugurated at the City Railway Station here today by Dr. Anup S. Dayanand, Divisional Commercial Manager, South Western Railway, Mysore.
There have been calls from various higher-ups in the Railway Ministry to clear the tracks, set up uninterrupted water supply, drains that flush clean and a sewage system that works along with washable apron to be provided for various staff. The clarion call is for a "Cleanliness Awareness Drive" on a sustained war-footing.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anup said that in order to create awareness among the public, especially rail commuters, the drive was being undertaken. He said all platforms and rail coaches would be thoroughly cleaned and the entire Railway Station kept clean. Hand bills would be distributed to rail commuters specifying the do's and don'ts. Station Master A. Venkatesh and other Railway staff were present on the occasion.
