1.6 lakh bulbs to illuminate roads, parks

Mysore, Oct. 4 (KCU&MTY)- The city will glitter during Dasara this time with the inclusion of 1.6 lakh bulbs for illuminating important roads and parks.

As no Sub-Committee has been constituted for illumination, officials and engineers of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) have taken up the task of illuminating the city during Dasara, according to sources.

Roads: Roads around the Mysore Palace, Sayyaji Rao Road, the stretch from tollgate on Mysore-Bangalore Road to Hardinge Circle, Teresian College to Hardinge Circle, Narayana Shastri Road, road from Ganapati Ashram to Hardinge Circle, JLB Road, Devaraj Urs Road, Ashoka road and a few others will be illuminated.

Parks: Parks to glow during Dasara will be Curzon Park, Cheluvamba Park, Nehru Park in Udayagiri, the park on Vishwamanava Double Road in Kuvempunagar, Meelad Park, Ramalingeshwara Park in Vidyaranyapuram, Dr. Ambedkar Park in Ashokapuram, Kukkarahalli Park, Maruthi Park on Shivaji Road and others. Trees on either side of important roads too will be illuminated with serial bulbs.

Generators: To ensure uninterrupted power supply during Dasara, six generators of high rating will be positioned.

Dynamic lighting with changing columns will be installed on the Gopura of Chamundeshwari Temple and Mahishasura Statue atop Chamundi Hill, not to mention the usual welcome sign atop the hill.
