Mentally challenged children housed at Mythri Charitable Trust in city have proved that they indeed have special abilities to defy the challenges they have been facing in life.
About 12 children among the total strength of 34 at the Centre are said to have made exquisite and attractive earrings, chains, fancy bracelets, anklets and other such items which are normally not available in fancy stores.
Earrings and bracelets are priced from Rs. 10 to Rs. 100 while chains from Rs. 100 to 700 which are made using Rajavardhana stone, crystal stone, kundan beads and pearls.
A two-day expo of the products was organised at the Trust premises in Krishnamurthypuram that was inaugurated by DRC Proprietress Vyshali on Friday.
Speaking to SOM, Trust Chief N. Venkoba Rao said that the special children had excelled in playing ice hockey, folk dances and now have come out with excellent fashion jewellery of over 100 varieties.
Designer Anuradha Girish added that the children were trained for about three months which was quite gruelling and patience-testing as the kids were mentally-challenged.
