With the world famous Dasara nearing, the City Traffic Police have taken up road furnishing works since yesterday as per the instructions of City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem. Road/street furniture is a collective term used for objects and equipment installed on streets and roads for various purposes.
Labourers from TN have been brought to paint zebra crossings and build humps on selected roads.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Dr. Saleem said that the road furnishing works have been taken up on roads which are in good condition and added that similar works would be carried out on other roads after Mysore City Corporation completes the asphalting works.
The City Police yesterday completed the works on five places between K.R. Circle and JLB Road junction, Ashoka Road, Gandhi Square and Bogadi Road. The works had to be stopped this morning temporarily, owing to unexpected rainfall. Works were carried out overnight under the supervision of in-charge ACP (Traffic) Shanthamallappa.
