Mysore City Police Department has issued guidelines for the celebrations of Holi scheduled for tomorrow.

In a press release, the City Police Commissioner has stated that forceful collection of money from anyone was prohibited and those involved in such acts will be booked under IPC Section 384 and will be liable to be punished.

The release also states that applying colours forcefully on women and children and eve-teasing, gaining entry into women’s colleges and hostel under the pretext of applying colours, were prohibited.

People celebrating Holi have been instructed not to set fire on the middle of the road but to find a safer place which does not harm the movement of traffic. They have been also instructed to seek prior permission from the respective Police Stations to celebrate Holi. The place where ‘Holi ka Dahan’ will be held should be identified prior to seeking Police permission.

Permission from CHESCom is mandatory in case of electricity connection needed to the place where Holi ka Dahan is done.

The use of loud-speakers is allowed from 6 am to 10 pm. Songs with vulgar lyrics should not be played and any entertainment programmes should be completed before 10 pm without disturbing the students gearing up for their examinations.

Organisers of the festival have been instructed to take precautionary measures to avoid untoward incidents. In case of taking out a procession, the organisers are instructed to inform their respective jurisdictional Police Station.

Violators of the guidelines will be dealt with severe action as per law. Public can contact Police Control Room on 100, 2418139 or 2418339 to register their complaints with regard to any violation.

Police department has urged the public to maintain peace and harmony while celebrating Holi.
