Mandi Police headed by Inspector C.T. Rajanna have solved five murder cases by arresting two persons. The accused have been identified as Khaiser (24), resident of Shantinagar and Harish (26), resident of Kurimandi, NR Mohalla.

Addressing press persons at the office of NR Sub-division ACP here this morning, City Police Commissioner K.L. Sudheer said that the duo were arrested on May 19 late night when they were moving suspiciously. He said that both the accused were caught when the city Police were on rounds in connection with the murder of Trimurthy (40), a resident of Nanjangud, who was bludgeoned to death the same night.

Sudheer said that the duo confessed to the crime and Khaiser, one of the accused, also confessed to killing four others previously in Udayagiri, Lashkar and V V Puram Police Station limits.

He added that Harish was involved only in one of the murder cases which was reported near RMC on New Sayyaji Rao Road on May 19.

Khaiser, the prime accused, is said to have been addicted to adhesive solution used in vulcansing works and whiteners which contain alcohol and on consumption, a person becomes aggressive and unaware of what he does.

Sudheer said that Khaiser was involved in murders of Latha, a resident of K.R. Nagar, in Udyagiri Police limits on May 20, Chand Sharif, resident of K.R. Nagar on August 3, 2012, in Lashkar Police limits, Basavashetty, a resident of Boodanur, Gundlupet Taluk in Chamarajanagar and Somachari, resident of Holenarasipur, in VV Puram Police limits.

Sudheer mentioned that the modus operandi of the accused was targeting middle aged group people, getting close to them, demand money and valuables and kill them if they resisted.

He also added that Khaiser was involved in theft cases reported in Mandi and NR Police limits and had been released on bail recently.

In all cases involving Khaiser, he had bludgeoned people to death using a boulder.

Police produced the accused before the court which handed them over to one day Police custody for further interrogation.

Police team comprising Mandi Police Inspector C.T. Rajanna, SIs Shabbir Hussain, Keshava Murthy, Thippaiah Swamy and constables Harish, Shankar, Rajendra, Satish, Venkatesh Gowda, Shivanna, Ravi Kumar, Musavar Ahmed, Nagaraju, Nagendra, Guruprasad, Raje Gowda, Vijay Kumar, Chandru, Ravikumar, Basavesh and Rudresh detected the cases.
