A young couple from city M.V. Santosh and Akshatha S. Rao are on a cycling mission to promote ballroom dancing in schools while also educating them against suicide.

The couple, who are qualified ballroom dance instructors, are going from city-to-city on their custom-built tandem cycle with a message ‘You Only Live Once’.

The couple started their journey from Mysore on Sunday and is planning to tour South India. Today, they will be in Madikeri and later will head towards Kerala. Last year, the couple had travelled for about 500 kms towards Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar, Kollegal and BR Hills.

Akshatha said that it was not a planned expedition. "We have not saved up money to go on cycling expedition. We plan to earn while we are travelling and will be staying with families who will be kind to us. The stay is not planned at any location. But we hope to stay with the families at different places we visit. This will help us understand different cultures and traditions of our own people, after all India is so diverse”, added Akshatha.

Santosh and Akshatha run ballroom dancing classes called the ‘Ballroom Dancing India’ at Gokulam. People who wish to know about their cycle expedition may contact Santosh – 94483 59687.
