The Prison Department today rolled out its mobile bakery unit 'Parivarthana Products' to sell bakery products prepared by jail inmates after the success of the bakery outlet in the Central Jail premises in Mysore.

The bakery-on-wheels will be managed by the staff of Prisons Department.

P.N. Jayasimha, Chief Superintendent, Central Prisons, Mysore, speaking to Star of Mysore said that 'Parivarthana Products' would be stationed in front of the City Court Complex from 12.30 pm to 2 pm and will move to another spot at the office of the Deputy Commissioner at 2.30 pm where it will be stationed till 5.30 pm.

The mobile bakery unit will later move to Mysore Palace premises and will be there from 5.45 pm to 6.30 pm in view of Dasara festivities before going back to the prison premises.

Jayasimha said that the original concept of the bakery was that of Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) K.V. Gagandeep and after the success of the bakery at the prison premises, we planned for a mobile bakery unit as it will boost and encourage the reformed inmates.

The running of the mobile bakery unit has been entrusted to prison staff Chandra Kumar and Lokesh who will be assisted by two others.

The mobile bakery offers both vegetable puffs and egg puffs, honey cakes, special bread, bun, potato bun, jam bun, cream bun, coconut biscuit, butter biscuit, salt biscuit, sweet biscuit, khara biscuit and dilpasand besides taking orders for birthday cakes.

Jayasimha said that the products have become so famous that many from Bangalore and other places buy the products in bulk. He further said that the bakery products were being prepared by eight reformed inmates who were provided basic training in manufacturing bakery products.

He said that general public can buy these bakery products made out of the best ingredients available from the above mentioned points and help boost the confidence of the reformed inmates after their release.
