Four students from city emerged toppers in the recently concluded Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority across the State.
Vivek. B. Maleyuru, a student of Vidyashram Pre-University College in Jayalakshmipuram, secured 3rd rank in Medical, Pratheek M. Sadare of Sadvidya Semi-Residential School scored 9th rank in engineering and Neeraj Ravindra of Vijaya Vittala PU College secured 10th rank in medical. A native of Mysore, Sahan Alva, a student of Expert College in Mangalore, secured 4th rank in Engineering.
Having scored 95.3% in II PU, Vivek B. Maleyuru emerged 3rd topper in Medical and secured 44th rank in Engineering in CET. Vivek is the son of Dr. Basavaraju and Geeta. Dr. Basavaraju is the Chief Medical Officer, Maharaja Health Centre, located inside Maharaja College.
Having born into a family of medical professionals, Vivek made up his mind to study medicine when he joined I PU. Vivek’s uncle also works as a doctor in Andhra Pradesh. Vivek was dependent only on college for his studies and not tuition classes. He had also joined the CET coaching classes at Vidyashram. He used to reach the college as early as 5.30 am to attend CET classes.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Vivek said that the encouragement and guidelines from his parents and teachers helped him to secure good marks and emerge one among the toppers.
Vivek scored 54/60 in Physics, 58 in Chemistry, 45 in Maths and 54 in Biology. Vidyashram PU College Principal Sujatha Vasudev congratulated Vivek for bringing laurels to the college.
Pratheek M. Sadare, a student of Sadvidya Semi-Residnetial PU College, secured 9th rank in CET-Engineering. His parents Manjunath M. Sadare, Manager at L&T and G.S. Jyothi, a home-maker, are proud of their son’s achievement.
Neeraj Ravindra, a student of Vijaya Vittala PU College, secured 10th rank in Medical and 59th rank in Engineering. Neeraj’s father K.Ravindra works as a librarian at Central Coffee Board. His mother K.R. Padmini is a home-maker. They reside in Kuvempunagar. Though he secured 10th rank in Medical, he aims to study Electronics and Communication engineering.
“I have chosen to pursue technical education since medical education requires a lot of time,” said Neeraj. He scored 49 in Physics, 59 in Chemistry, 47 in Maths and 53 in Biology.
Vijaya Vittala Principal Prof. H. Satyaprasad felicitated Neeraj in presence of his father Ravindra and Ramesh, Kannada lecturer.
Sahan Alva, who has secured 4th rank in Engineering, is a native of Kuvempunagar in Mysore, but a student of Expert PU Science College in Mangalore. He is the son of C. Suresh Alva, owner of Mahesh Prasad Hotel in city and Usha. Sahan has scored 56 in Physics, 60 in Chemistry and 55 in Mathematics. Sahan thanked his parents and teachers for their support and added that he would pursue Electronic Engineering.
