CESC Managing Director C. Shikha yesterday took over as the first woman Deputy Commissioner of Mysore following the sudden transfer of Dr. Ramegowda, who had taken charge only on Feb.2.

After taking over from Additional DC Naga Nayak in the afternoon, she told Star of Mysore that she took charge from Naga Nayak following receipt of orders and added that conduct of free and fair elections was her top priority besides providing drinking water and fodder to cattle during the ensuing summer.

Hailing from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, the 2004 batch IAS officer Shikha is an engineer in Instrumentation Technology.

Having served in Gadag as Deputy Commissioner and CEO in 2009, Shikha served as Dharwad ZP CEO during 2009-10 before becoming the Director of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysore in 2012 and subsequently posted as MD of CESC.

Outgoing DC Dr. Ramegowda, whose next posting is yet to be announced, had successfully conducted elections to Urban Local Bodies on Mar.7 during his nearly two-month tenure .

Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan is Mandya DC

Shikha’s husband Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan, who was hitherto working as CEO of Mysore ZP, has now been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Mandya following the transfer of Mandya DC Krishnaiah to Govt. Land Records Department.

Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan had discharged duties as In-Charge Deputy Commissioner of Mysore following the transfer of former DC P.S. Vastrad.

It may be recalled that the State Government had recently shuffled 13 senior bureaucrats under instructions from Union and State Election Commission.
