Mysore, Aug. 4 (KK&KMC)- The Palace is a cynosure of this 'heritage' city, attracting tourists from all over the world for its historic significance.

Unfortunately, the façade of this magnificent structure is marred by the few temporary bus-shelters erected by KSRTC. The shelters, attached to the heritage-styled iron railings along the Palace gate, were erected to facilitate the passengers at the time of the construction of City Bus Stand under the JNNURM project.

Though it is almost a year after the new Bus Stand has been opened for public use, the temporary bus-shelters have remain-ed there, despite being of any use to the commuters, since the buses do not stop at the spot.

Presently, the bus-shelters are used as open shopping centres during the day and turn into sleeping places by night, providing shelter for vagrants and also serving as vice dens.

The indiscriminate parking of maxi-cabs and taxis' in the open space beside the bus-shelters, are an added menace, causing frequent traffic jams in the vicinity.

Hope the authorities concerned dismantle the shelters that serve no logical purpose and use them at other places in the city where they are needed.
