Mysore, June 21 (M&KMC)- Two persons travelling in a Maruti Omni saved themselves from being crushed under the wheels of a fully loaded bus that reversed down a slope and ran over the Omni, by jumping out of the Omni in time.
The incident occurred close to the Jawa factory near railway under-bridge in Yadavagiri industrial area last night.
The fortunate passengers of the Omni (KA-11, P-5555) are K.M. Hemesh and Ayub, residents of Kamanakere Hundi. They were on their way to the Kempegowda Choultry in Yadavagiri here, to attend a wedding ceremony.
While ascending the steep road, they spotted a private bus (KA-10, 1808) loaded with passengers, who were also going to the same wedding, a few feet ahead of them. Upon noticing that the bus, unable to go forward on the steep road was reversing, the duo in the Omni jumped out seconds before the car was crushed under the wheels of the bus.
None of the passengers in the bus that stopped in a tilted position, were hurt. Had the bus rolled over to its right, it would have fallen into a deep gorge along the road, resulting in a major tragedy, according to eye-witnesses.
The bus driver is said to have fled the scene after the accident. V.V. Puram Traffic Police have registered a case.
