“Saving the biosphere should be the main agenda of State and Central Government,” opined Dr. Bharat Bushan Bindroo, Director, Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI).

He was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory of the Botanical Society of the Department of Studies in Botany at Linnaeus Hall of the Department in Manasagangotri here yesterday.

“Botanical studies occupies an important role in human life resulting in a good unison between the two species. India has 15000 botanical varieties with 40% of them bearing flowers. About 50 species of plants which are infestation-resistant have been researched in sericulture,” said Dr. Bindroo who advised the students to take up studies in basic biology to easily foray into other areas.

Dr. Bindroo was felicitated.
