Mysore, Apr. 9 (DM)- Mayor Purushotham has said that the City Corporation was mooting production of biogas from rotten vegetables.

Speaking as a guest in the programme organised by the District Health and Family Welfare Department in the city on Wednesday as part of World Health Day, Purushotham said that an MoU has been reached with Denmark Government on setting up a biogas plant in city. The work on the plant will commence soon.

Everyday, 4 tonnes of waste is collected in the city and this can be appropriately segregated and recycled. The Corporation Commissioner has studied plastic articles recycling process during his recent visit to a recycling plant in Chennai, he explained and added that the installation of such a plant is being mooted in the city too.

Deputy Mayor Sharadamma inaugurated the programme. ZP Vice-President Nandini Chan-drasekhar presided. District Health Officer Dr. V. Raju, Corporator Mahadevamma, Manoj Sebastian, Dr. Basava-raju, Dr. Mudassir Azeez Khan and others were present.
