The second Bharachukki Jalapathotsava will be held on Aug 10 and 11 by the district administration in association with Kannada and Culture Department. A preliminary meeting in this regard was held recently under the chairmanship of Dy. Commissioner M.V. Savithri.
“Tourists are unaware of a good number of tourist spots in the district. Hence, there is not much tourism development in the district. The jalapathotsava will be held as per the instruction from the District In-charge Minister H.S. Mahadeva Prasad," the DC said.
The first jalapathotsava was held in 2007. The DC instructed the District Health Officer Ramesh Babu to take measures to prevent any untoward incident, provide drinking water facility, medical assistance with sufficient stock of medicines and ambulance facility on the spot.
The DC insisted on cleanliness at the premises on both the days. CESC should provide uninterrupted power supply as well as generator facility, the DC further instructed.
She said KSRTC bus facility will be provided from Sattegala Handpost as entry of private vehicles will be restricted to ensure hassle-free traffic. Police Department should provide CCTV cameras at various spots and steel barricades wherever necessary, she added.
To attract tourists on both the days, KSRTC and Tourism Department should jointly organise tour to different places of tourist attraction in the district, Savithri said. The Falls and the surrounding areas will be lit up. Folk and cultural events will be held on the occasion. Sale of liquor and non-vegetarian food will be banned.
