A three-day convention of backward classes will be held at Maneyangala in Kalamandira here from tomorrow till Apr. 10.

The convention will be held under the aegis of Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum, in association with Vishwakarma Federation, District Kumbara Association, District Madiwala Association, Savitha Samaja and other Backward Classes.

The convention will be inaugurated by former ADGP Kempaiah.

A talk on the problems and challenges faced by the backward classes in Karnataka will be presented by social thinker Banjagere Jayaprakash.

A seminar on unity and organisation of backward classes will be held on Apr. 9, to be inaugurated by Mangalore journalist Naveen Soorinje. Amogha channel proprietor Biligiri Ranganath will preside.

Another seminar on ‘social and political polarisation of backward classes’ will be held on Apr. 10 at 11 am, to be inaugurated by Kautilya Vidyalaya Chairman R. Ragu.

The valedictory function will be held on Apr. 10 at 12.30 pm, to be presided over by Kannada Sahithya Parishat District President M. Chandrashekar.
