Rangayana will be organising B.V. Karanth Rangothsava from Oct. 20 to 27, said Rangayana Director Janardhan addressing the press persons at his office yesterday.

The Rangothsava will be inaugurated by theatre person and cine actor Prof. G.K. Govinda Rao and Thinker Rudrappa Angawadi will be the chief guest, said Janardhan and added that Rangayana has been organising theatre festival for the college students from the past 10 years to create awareness on theatre culture. This time, around eight colleges are participating in the theatre festival among which four are women colleges.

The plays are being directed by the junior artists of Rangayana who have been trained at the Bharatiya Rangasikshana Kendra. This apart, actors Arun Sagar, Sharath Lohitashwa, Sundaraj, Ramesh Bhat, Nanjunde Gowda, Rajendra Singh Babu, Devraj, Sanketh Kashinath and others will guide the students during the festival, added Janardhan.

The valedictory will be held on Oct. 27 at Rangayana. Noted cine actor Prakash Raj and Mandya Ramesh will be present on the occasion.

The following eight plays will be staged in two shows (2.20 pm and 6.30 pm) at Bhoomigeetha in Rangayana premises:

Oct.21: ‘Adwanapura’ by JSS College for Women(directed by Arun Kumar)
Oct.22: ‘Punjabina Maate’ by Maharani’s Science College. (directed by Sheela Kumari)
Oct.23: ‘Aa Gandhi ee Gandhi’ by St. Philomenas College (directed by Mohammed Ali)
Oct. 24: ‘Huliya Neralu’ by Maharaja College (directed by Santosh Halamani)
Oct. 25: ‘Mukthi’ byMaharani’s Arts and Commerce College for Women (directed by Praveen Belli)
Oct. 26: ‘Anche Mane’ by Vijaya Vittala PU College (directed by S.R. Dhanraj)
Oct. 27: ‘Yaare Koogadali’ by SBRR Mahajana First Grade College (directed by Ravishankar)
