Mysore, Apr. 28 (RK&KMC) - A.S.N. Murthy today assumed charge as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Southern Range, Mysore. He took charge of office from Jeevan Kumar V. Gaonkar, who has been promoted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Administration and transferred to Bangalore Head Quarters. Murthy is a native of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.

After taking charge, Murthy said his priority would be the safe conduct of ensuing GP polls.

Profile: A.S.N. Murthy was born to Pullayya and Chithamma on June 10, 1962. Pullayya served as an Inspector in the Roads and Buildings Cons-truction Department, Andhra Pradesh State.

Murthy holds degrees in electronic engineering and MBA. He had served in Delhi as the Divisional Manager of Mineral and Metal Trading Corporation (MMTC), a government-owned company and later at Vishakapatnam in the same company.

He then passed the Indian Police Service (IPS) and joined the department.

He had earlier served as Deputy Director of Karnataka Police Academy, Mysore.
