Ganabharathi begins this year's Aradhana Mahotsava of Saint music composers with a commemorative musical evening in memory and honour of Sri Kashi Sundararaja Dasaru on Sunday, 10th February, with a vocal music concert by Vid. Rajagopal Bhagavath (Davanagere) accompanied by Vid. C. N. Tyagarajan on Violin, Vid. Kanchana Eshwara Bhat on Mridanga and Vid. V. S. Ramesh on Ghata at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm.

The concert is open to all the music lovers of Mysore, according to Dr. T. P. Krishnakantha, Joint Secretary, Ganabharathi.

About Kashi Sundararaja Dasaru: Kashi Sundararaja Dasaru was a unique Kannadiga. Born in down South, this Kannadiga could not read or write in Kannada. This celibate saintly person settled down eight decades ago on the banks of the holy river Ganges, studied and practiced Dasa Kritis patiently through Tamil Script !

In spite of his crippling poverty, Sundararaja Dasaru apart from rendering help to the more impoverished members of the society, propagated the Dasa Sahitya among the South Indians of Banares and also celebrated Purandaradasa Aradhana every year including Oonchavritthi for nearly five decades at his own cost until his death.

Some of the admirers of Dasaru who were teaching at the Banares Hindu University have been gracious enough to begin the annual sponsorship of this memorable event several years ago and continue to do so, preferably on Mouni Amavasya day in particular, exclusively at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Ganabharathi, Mysore. Indeed this is a great tribute to the great soul.
