The Bandipalya APMC Merchants’ Welfare Committee has appealed the Revenue Minister V. Sreenivas Prasad, who is also the Mysore District in-charge Minister, to get the busy Mysore-Nanjangud stretch of national highway 212 widened into a 4-lane road. In a letter to the Minister, Committee President Abdul Gaffar and Secretary K.M. Shivashankar stated that the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yard was shifted from Tilaknagar to the current place in Bandipalya on Nanjangud Road about 10 years ago and the airport in Mandakalli too was operating not to exclude the heavy traffic plying towards Tamil Nadu and Kerala which has been swelling day by day.
The letter further stated that the present narrow road could not handle the heavy traffic plying on it, especially with a few lakes and gorges abutting the road posing potential danger to motorists with frequent accidents happening in the recent past.
