People who attain wealth, reach high position or grow in status in society, usually tend to forget their past. But not CM Akhilesh Yadav, who came all the way from UP to Mysore, to visit the college where he studied and to meet his teachers and friends.

Accompanied by his wife and three children, Akhilesh visited his friend Mohammed Ashraf’s house in HUDCO, Bannimantap, where he had lunch. He was served his favourite dishes like Napoleon rice, aloo-bonda, panneer and others.

Ashraf, who works as Manager in Shell Oil company, came all the way from Dubai to meet his college pal. Akhilesh recalled that he used to spend most of his holidays at Ashraf’s house while in Mysore. Speaking to Ashraf’s mother Haseena Sharief, he praised her for the special dishes she cooked and served to the boys.

Ashraf praised his friend for his humility and for not forgetting his old friends even after becoming a VVIP. He also recalled their trips to Nagarahole, Bandipur and Ooty during holidays.

“We had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Akhilesh and had invited him to our house in Mysore. I am happy that he has honoured our invitation despite his busy schedule,” said Ashraf.

On the occasion, Women’s Congress office-bearers Vijayalakshmi Urs, Susheela Keshavamurthy, Latha Mohan, Vasanthi Shivanna and others submitted a memorandum to Akhilesh seeking his support for the Women’s Reservation Bill to be tabled in the forthcoming Lok Sabha session.
